From Local to Global: In Pursuit of Science
Kapadokya University is a higher education institution that regards the production of scientific knowledge and academic publishing as a core institutional priority. Conducting its research processes through an interdisciplinary approach, the University has publicly articulated its principles in this domain through its Research and Publication Policy Document, which clearly states that scientific research must be grounded in ethical principles and oriented toward societal benefit.
Within the University, a number of application and research centers actively operate with a focus on regional development and sustainability. These include the Alev Alatlı Center for Strategic Thinking Application and Research, the Hot Air Balloon and Airship Application and Research Center, the Cappadocia Studies Center, the Center for Environmental Humanities, the Center for Social and Strategic Studies, the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Systems Application and Research Center, the Oral and Dental Health Application and Research Center, the Physical Therapy and Healthy Living Application and Research Center, and the Child Development Application and Research Center.
Kapadokya University believes that academic knowledge should be publicly accessible and openly available. To this end, the University has adopted open-access policies and makes all its publications freely available to researchers through its Open Access Platform. Through its efforts supporting the expansion of open science, the University contributes to national and international scholarly communities.
The University’s Publishing House contributes to academic knowledge production by publishing original works across various disciplines. All publications undergo peer review processes, and strict adherence to ethical principles is maintained. Through series such as “Cappadocia Monographs,” “Cappadocia Studies,” and “Children and Youth,” the Publishing House disseminates diverse academic content. Kapadokya University Press operates with the mission of expanding the University’s scholarly output and its vision of contributing to society.
The University also publishes peer-reviewed academic journals focused on different fields. These include Ecocene: Cappadocia Journal of Environmental Humanities in the environmental humanities; the KÜN Journal of Literature and Cultural Studies; the Cappadocia Journal of Health Sciences; Acta Stomatologica Cappadocia in the field of dentistry; and the interdisciplinary Cappadocia Journal of Area Studies.
Kapadokya University encourages the research activities of its students and academic staff through a multifaceted support system. Research processes are strengthened both financially and structurally through Scientific Research Projects (BAP) funding, publication incentives, project development guidance, and support for participation in academic events. Furthermore, the Technology Transfer and Project Management Office and the Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Committee ensure the quality of the studies conducted and their compliance with ethical standards. The University also offers initiatives that encourage undergraduate and graduate students to engage in research, thereby contributing significantly to their academic development and scientific productivity.
