Kapadokya University plays a pioneering role in civil aviation education in Türkiye. Offering both formal and non-formal education models aligned with sectoral needs, KÜN is an SHY-147 Aircraft Maintenance Training and Examination Organization authorized by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and conducts modular examinations in the field of aircraft maintenance. Additionally, it administers the Foreign Language Exam for Aircraft Maintenance Personnel, supporting candidates in their licensing processes. Through its applied training, research centers, and technical services, Kapadokya University contributes comprehensively to the advancement of civil aviation and stands as the only higher education institution whose aviation programs are fully authorized by the DGCA.

The University’s associate degree aviation programs aim to train qualified professionals who can be directly integrated into the sector. The Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Technology and Operations program is designed for students wishing to specialize in drone systems. The Civil Air Transportation Management program educates individuals who will work in airport operations and ground services. The Civil Aviation Cabin Services program focuses on service quality and passenger safety in cabin crew training. Students in the Aircraft Technology program gain technical competence in aircraft maintenance processes, while the Flight Operations Management program provides extensive education on flight planning and coordination. Applied training in all programs is reinforced through field-based learning experiences.

The University’s undergraduate aviation programs, built on application-based learning and aligned with national regulations, graduate technically and administratively qualified professionals for the sector. The Aviation Electrical and Electronics program focuses on aircraft electrical and electronic systems, instrumentation, avionics, and control technologies. The Aviation Management program provides managerial knowledge in areas such as air transportation, passenger services, and airport operations, ensuring that students complete a training process enriched with sectoral applications. The Aircraft Airframe and Powerplant Maintenance program equips students with technical competence in aircraft structures, engines, and subsystems, supported by hands-on training conducted in modern workshops and in collaboration with the industry.

Kapadokya University offers education at both Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport and its Nevşehir campus. Students at both locations benefit from learning environments directly integrated with the aviation sector, enabling training processes that are closely connected to real working conditions.

The Slot Services Center (SHM), operating within Kapadokya University, provides services to ensure safe, orderly, and secure flights in air sports such as hot air ballooning and paragliding. SHM manages processes such as slot allocation control, meteorological assessment, evaluation of take-off clearance requests, and collection of flight-related data for the flight zones of Cappadocia, Soğanlı, Çat, Pamukkale, Fethiye, Ihlara, Antalya, Muğla, and Afyon. In addition, the University’s Approved Training Organization (ATO) offers DGCA-approved hot air balloon pilot training, providing not only basic training but also license renewal, category upgrades, and extension services. Training is offered to both Turkish and international students.

CAMO – Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization and F-Bakım – SHY-145 Approved Maintenance Organization, both operating within Kapadokya University, provide professional technical services related to the airworthiness and maintenance of hot air balloons. These units ensure that periodic inspection, maintenance, and certification processes are carried out in accordance with the relevant aviation regulations.

The UAV Application and Research Center delivers unmanned aerial vehicle pilot training within the framework of SHT-UAV regulations. The Center has also developed the flight permit and registration software used on the iha.shgm.gov.tr platform, enabling the digital management of training, examinations, certification, and flight operations. Additionally, within the scope of BAP projects, the Center conducts R&D activities on UAV production.
